Neighborhood Sanitary Sewer Capital Improvement Project

Independence, MO

Powell CWM, Inc. assisted the City of Independence with a Capital Improvement Project to address drainage problems at a number of sites within the city and involved a number of stakeholders, including the City Water Pollution Control and Public Works Departments, City Council Members, a private business owner, church, various homeowner’s associations, and private citizens. Powell CWM, Inc. performed a Preliminary Engineering Study (PES) of five sites providing an existing conditions analysis, design alternatives, and associated construction cost estimates. The analysis included site inspections, a review of Customer Service Request Reports, City GIS data, information obtained from the various utility providers, and input from constituents obtained during public meetings. The various design alternatives proposed for the various sites included pipe and structure removal and replacement, pipe relining, creation of a small regional detention basin, gabion walls, roadside ditch grading, driveway culvert removal and replacement and lake dredging, aeration, forebay creation, and littoral zone planting.

Multi-Use Trail, Sidewalks to City Parks Project

Fairpoint, MO

We conducted Land Surveying and Civil Engineering for a 2,000-foot-long multi-use trail. Bringing our knowledge in the design and engineering of bicycle facilities and urban streetscapes, we were able to create a functional, safe, and aesthetically engaging benefit to the City of Independence. Powell CWM, Inc. designers provided problem-solving solutions at all stages of this project, from planning and conceptual design to creating design standards to producing construction documents for implementation. Trails and greenways are beneficial to our communities, and by making them more livable, we improve the economy through tourism and civic improvement, preserve and restore open spaces, and provide opportunities for physical activities to improve fitness and mental health.

Lakeview Crossing Town Homes

Blue Springs, MO

Powell CWM, Inc. has provided civil engineering and land surveying services for the construction of Lakeview Crossing Townhomes, a new multi-family development. The 16-acre site is located on AA Highway in Blue Springs, Missouri. It will include a total of 31 four-plex units, including a neighborhood clubhouse with a swimming pool.

Situated on a wooded slope on the eastern edge of Blue Springs, the natural setting of Lakeview Crossing Townhomes will offer residents a lovely outdoor space. The landscape design features a variety of plants to provide seasonal interest throughout the year. The plan also includes a landscape buffer between the project and the adjacent residential community.
