Powell CWM has specialized in providing architectural design, civil engineering, and land surveying services, since 1952. We are currently looking to hire a Director of Civil Engineering to take us to the next level. This position will have an active role in project planning and management, business development, client relations, and molding the department’s future.
You will work directly with the ownership team to align department goals with the company’s objectives. Come work with a firm that fosters a welcoming environment that will allow you to grow both personally and professionally.
Responsibilities:
- Actively manage multiple project scopes, schedules, and budgets;
- Serve as the primary client liaison to bring the schedule, budgets, and scope of work to completion and to the client’s satisfaction;
- Undertake proactive workforce planning initiatives and execute plans resulting in identifying opportunities through seeking new clients;
- Develop and execute plans to achieve growth and financial profitability;
- Guide and lead the development of proposals;
- Maintain communication with teams to monitor progress of projects, ensure client engagement, and lead conflict resolutions;
- Provide technical support to ensure successful deliverables;
- Perform other duties as assigned
- 10+ years of experience;
- Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering;
- Requires a Missouri and Kansas P.E. license;
- Proficient in Civil 3D;
- Highly proficient with code principles and able to convey them to others;
Proven expertise in land development and public works design; - Excellent management skills;
- Capable of managing a project from concept through construction administration;

Responsibilities:
- Creating and executing project work plans;
- Delegating working assignments to team members;
- Managing day-to-day operational aspects of a project and scope;
- Effectively applying our methodologies and enforce project standards;
- Performing reviews and quality assurance procedures;
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Must be a licensed Professional Land Surveyor;
- AutoCAD experience required;
- The ability to manage both field and office operations;
- The ability to manage multiple projects across a wide variety of surveying facets;
- Must be self-motivated and have the ability to work in a team environment;
- Have strong communication skills and the ability to quickly adopt company standards;

Required Qualifications:
- Graduation from a standard high school or possession of a G.E.D. Certification;
- Possession and maintenance of a valid Driver License;
- The ability to obtain OSHA 10 safety training;
- Demonstrate the ability to work with co-workers and managers;
- Excellent communication skills;
- The ability to work in various kinds of weather;
- The ability to quickly adopt company standards and practices;
- Position requires work Monday through Friday with occasional travel;
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Responsibilities:
- Maintain and develop professional relationships focused on communication and relationship-building;
- Build and maintain professional networks;
- Coordinate with all departments to advocate for client needs and provide valuable input;
- Provide direction to team members to ensure that all client inquiries and/or projects are completed timely and accurately;
- Create, refine, and implement work processes that enhance the organization, its operating procedures and client satisfaction;
- Provide technical support to ensure successful deliverables;
Required Qualifications:
- Excellent management skills;
- Strong verbal and written communication skills;
- Ability to develop relationships with current and prospective clients;
- Ability to manage project scopes, schedules, and budgets;
- Fast learner and quick thinker;
- Self-motivated and goal-oriented, desire to deliver results;
- Must have a technical bachelor’s degree, business degree or equivalent related experience;
- Experience in business development and marketing is required;
